(Cont from Sight Unseen )
Ryuu blinked at the sharp remark. Did she refer to the fact he was japanese, or the fact he was a demon? She hadn't really cleared that out. He once again tilted his head as she ran off and then glanced down at the homeless person, giving another ten dollars just because he could before taking off after her.
This time he kept his distance for a while, only using his free running when he found himself a little too far away from her and to gain some ground. Once he found her turn into an alley, he made his move and was just about to jump up on the roof top to pursue her that way when he saw the construction and the fact that she stood in the middle, the only way out... was through him. He snickered inwardly but didn't show anything on the outside.
"Now sweet lady... Behave... or I may think you have something against me because I'm Japanese... or... is there something else... about me.. that you don't like? You hardly know me since we just met.."
He said, placing the question in rounded letters to see if she'd get the hint on what he was referring to. Was she seeing the true him, or was she not? He was dying to find out! Ryuu took a few steps towards her, hands in his jacket pockets again looking casual and as non-threatening as a demon possibly could.
"If I were you I would cool down a bit... I mean no harm, lady.."
He said and stopped, looking at her right into her eyes if she met his gaze. He had planned to take her as a victim to feed on tonight but he had quickly changed his mind, he wanted to know if she really was a seer or not, that was a lot more interesting than anything else. Besides, he had his personal lap-dancers in Demon Underground that willingly came to him when he couldn't find a pray to 'feed' from in the forms of sexual... art... That was nothing common in Demon Underground however but for his own pleasure only, his own 'survival' if you wanted to put it bluntly.
"...now, tell me... what do you see?"
He asked, referring to himself.

Reaching into her pocket, Peyton fingered the can of pepper spray that she kept with her at all times. With deft fingers, she flicked the safety top off and put her finger on the top trigger. Because her hand was in her pocket, she was sure that the ‘man’ hadn’t seen what she was doing.
Peyton didn’t have time to be angry with herself for allowing him to catch her, to corner her or to notice that she had run away from him. Her heart was thumping too loud in her chest and her throat was dry. When her voice did come out of her mouth, it was as if it was coming from a dying man not the vibrant woman that she could be.
“I do not wanna have any trouble with you,” she said in an almost defeated manner. “I just want to go home. You can let me pass or we can do this your way.”
Swallowing down her fear, Peyton eyed the man in front of her. She noted that his mask was hugely attractive and she was not one for those with an Asian decent. She even allowed herself a moment to be honest. The monster behind the mask wasn’t that bad looking either, if you could get around the scales.
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she wondered if it would be good to lie... She didn’t feel she had anything to lose.
“I’m warning you, I know... Karate,” even to her the words sounded false. But she hoped the man didn’t notice.
This time, she turned her head to look down the street to see if there were any exits that she was missing.

Ryuu looked at her, taking her in. She was scared indeed but she had guts to be a human able to see the demonic world. He choked a chuckle down, he didn't think she'd like it if he started to laugh at her for her naivety.
"Now... my way pretty lady... would be you answering my question to begin with, then... perhaps tell me your name?"
He said calmly, he had taken another step towards her but remained still there since he realized she had put her hands in her pockets and knowing women in today's society... she probably had some kind of attack-alarm or anything like that in there and that was the last thing he wanted.
"Look... if I wanted to harm you, I would have done so when I first saw you, don't you think?"
He asked, tilting his head while realizing she was actually looking at him. Since his guise was a lot smaller than what his demon form was he could easily see when her eyes moved up his 7'2 strong body.
"Is it better if I kneel?"
He asked, slowly doing so but in a way that would let him get up fast if she'd try to run again. He placed his hands on his thighs instead of in his pockets and just looked at her. This way his demonic form would look smaller as well and since she seemed to be able to see it, he wanted to make himself as small as he could for now.
"... Tell me, pretty lady... What do you see when you look at me? You see a little more than the common human, don't you?"
He asked, wanting her to tell him what his demonic side looked like if she should dare to do so. If she did, his suspicions of her being a seer would be confirmed. No human would even see through the guise except one with the gift of foresight. Was she really the first seer in Oregon for over fifty years? One could only hope. If she was, he would ask her to come to the Demon World and train there and learn the ways the best she could.
"Tell me what you see, pretty lady.."
He asked again, still with the same kind voice. His eyes glimmering in soft blue in his guise form and his demonic eyes glimmered like fire licking a log in a fireplace, charming her, pleading to her senses to calm and just talk to him, to understand he meant no harm.

She turned her head back to look at him and was still shocked when she did. There was nothing that could make her comfortable here. There just wasn’t. Oh, but he was trying. Getting on his knees and looking her in the eye. She knew it was just a ploy. Once she said what she really saw, he would kill her. He had to. Didn’t he? Sure, he could let her live. No one would believe her anyway. She’d be locked away in an asylum. Oh, that would be great!
When she was done going over the thoughts in her mind, she had come to a conclusion. She needed to run.
While he was still on his knees, she ran. As fast as she could go... but not in the direction that would take her directly to him and closer to the entrance of the alley but toward the chain link fence that blocked the construction zone.
As she ran, her mace was in her fist and her arms were pumping her forward. It wouldn’t be long until she reached the fence. Just a few more feet and she would climb over it and get to freedom on the other side. Because on the other side of the construction zone there was an open gate; there was her salvation. She just needed to get to it.

Ryuu peered at her once she turned around to run. She really wasn't going to play nice, was she? He cursed somewhat and got up in an instant and took off.
He ran a few steps then jumped up on a large trash bin then from there he got up on the wall and ran a few steps on it, grabbing a fire escape ladder and swung his way towards a balcony and ran the side of it before doing a somersault and landed just between the woman and the fence.
"Now... Lady..."
He said, not even winded.
"I'm trying to be nice here... humans like you are very rare and we cherish the ones that appear in the world. And you thank me by running?"
He asked, once again kneeling before her so he would be smaller in size even though he thought it would do little good. He noted she was indeed holding something in her hand but he just couldn't see what it was.
"I am not here to harm you... if you think I'd get that idea you're wasting your time because I have no interest in doing so..."
He said, still trying to convince her of the fact.
"..please, just tell me what you see when you look at me, and tell me truthfully...I won't harm you, I won't let anyone harm you for that matter, if my suspicions are true... if they are, I'm here to help."
He paused for a moment.

Eyes widening in fear, she watched as the beast appeared out of no where, jumping in front of her. This time, she would not pause and think about things. This time she raised her hand over her head and shot a stream of mace right into the demon’s eyes and mouth. She wasn’t going to bother with the human mask it wore. She wasn’t going to worry about the fact that now it really knew she saw it’s true form.
“I said leave me alone, you fucking... DEMON” she shouted at the thing.
Taking a step back, she moved very slowly, backwards toward the entrance of the alley. Taking another step and another and another until she was a few feet away from the beast that was attempting to keep her near. Then, when she felt far enough away, she turned to run again.

Confirmed.
"GARRH!!"
He didn't react fast enough, the pepper spray hit one of his eyes and the side of his mouth before he had the chance to turn away. He cursed himself for not seeing that coming but at the same time he should have expected as much by a human.
It took him a few moments before he managed to get himself together again, holding his right eye with his left hand for a moment before his left unharmed eye spotted her backing away before she turned to run.
He growled and in turn gritting his teeth and revealing his fangs in frustration. She apparently would not listen to reason -- which he wasn't too surprised of once he thought about it. She had probably spent her life running away from every demon she may have seen and here he was trying to talk to her? Quite ironic really.
"Wait!"
He took off again, spitting and growling somewhat before he found his footing. Just before she managed to reach the street outside the alley he managed to grab her arm and if she held the pepper spray in her hand still, he yanked it out of her grasp before grabbing her around her waist and arms.
Ryuu took a few running steps once again and took a step up on the trash bin again, grabbing the fire escape ladder with his left hand that was free, holding her with the right before he climbed up with incredible speed.
Once up, he took off, running on the roof then aimed and ran to jump off the ledge to land on the other roof near by with grace of a cat. It was the building of the near by bar but it was a rather tall building, at least eight floors so it would do good enough for her not to be able to escape.
When he came to a stop there he put her down gently then once again kneeled by her, slightly winded but not much. His right eye was red and swollen by the pepper spray and his eye was teary, trickles of tears running down his cheek that he didn't seem to bother about. His skin had turned somewhat red by the pepper on his cheek but he ignored it even though the pain was wonderfully and painfully intoxicating, almost... arousing.
"Now... pretty lady. Since you just called me Demon, I know very well that you can see my true form and not my guise."
He said, still calm even though his eyes showed a bit of frustration.
"You are what we call a Seer. Someone that can see through the guise and you're highly valued among my kind. We haven't had a seer in Oregon for over fifty years... you're both rare and unique for a human..."
He began, watching her while he spoke.

Too shocked to scream, Peyton allowed herself to be carried up the building’s fire escape. But when she realized that the beast was carrying her toward the edge and that he was going to jump, she had to do something. Screaming sounded like a good idea but when she opened her mouth, no sound escaped. So, with nothing else to do... She closed her eyes.
The landing to the other roof was a bit jarring for her and she was sure that she had fallen to her death. Well, she might as well open her eyes and see what the afterlife would bring. But instead of seeing a white light or fire and brimstone, she saw the demon.
Shock raced through her as she blinked her eyes clear of her panicked haze. She was alive, yes. But she was still in the clutches of the demon and now he had gotten her to a place where she couldn’t escape. There were only two options, jump to her death or give the monster what he wanted. There was no telling if he would kill her after he was done with her but at least she had tried.
“Stop calling me that. My name is Peyton.” She had heard someone that if a rapist knew your name, you were no longer a piece of meat and that you were really human. Sometimes it allowed you to get away with your life.
“What do you want from me? Money? I have some. I’ll give it to you. Just let me leave.”

He kept looking at her, letting her have her fit while he remained calm on his knees on the roof top, his hands still on his thighs while waiting. He kept a sigh in and remained quiet while she lashed out at him.
"Petyon, it's nice to meet you... I'm Futaki no Ryuu... Ryuu being my first name."
He said, tilting his head while moving very carefully through her panic. He didn't want her to freak even more than she had to or he'd probably take a nosedive down the pavement just to save her ass if she got stupid ideas in her head.
Ryuu rose an eyebrow at her as if asking 'what the hell are you talking about' with a single look then shook his head slowly.
"No, I don't want your money. I told you what I wanted from you and I'm still waiting."
He said. He wanted her to tell him what she saw... did she see all of him or just parts of him? Did she see his eyes with the fire in, the skin which showed scales in certain lights, his thick long black hair that reached to his waist.. his strong body in the lose white robe he was wearing half open from the waist and up? He had put the knee long robes together with a twin rope twirling around themselves and his pants were black, matching the boots he wore. He really hadn't dressed properly for the dropping temperature but at the same time he hadn't expected to be out that long either. This would affect his powers eventually, especially if the temperature dropped below 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 celsius).
"Miss Petyon.... Tell me what I look like."
He requested for a forth time, still with the same patient voice, expecting eyes and kind look.

How many times could one person, beast or not, ask the same questions. It was beginning to get annoying and now that her fear was subsiding a bit, anger was rearing its ugly head. Rolling her eyes and turning her back on the demon, she shrugged.
“What does it matter if I tell you about your eyes or your... scales? What does it matter if I tell you about your damned fangs or your claws? Either way, you’re going to end up killing me. So, just get it over with.”
Her voice was filled with the fire of anger and pierced through with the hitching of fear. She had always imagined her life to be short lived but she never thought that she would die on the rooftops of Portland.
Turning her body to face him once again, her pale blue eyes glared down into his true face. Though she flinched at the fire that flickered there, she stood her ground. A bizarre strength strapped to her backbone like steel as her anger flared.
“Stop looking at me like that... Ryuu. And stop calling me miss. I don’t take kindly to people toying with me. And what the hell is with all the kneeling, it’s ridiculous.”

"It matters a great deal, Miss Petyon."
He said calmly just before hearing her mentioning his features. He smiled with a closed mouth, pleased to have his suspicions verified by her words.
"I would never kill a seer, miss Petyon... or would it be mrs?"
He asked and tilted his head, looking at her with patience once more. It seemed she had a great deal of trust issues this woman, but he had to at least try to get her calm even though it seemed she was going through the stages of capture. Fear - anger and then most probably giving up. Time would tell.
"Miss Petyon... A seer is what you are. A human with supernatural abilities that allows you to see what other people can not. You see through the guise that we demons have around us... you see our world and you see us how we truly are. A lot of you have worked for us in the past as oracles and fortune tellers. Have not your mother taught you anything about this? The ability is usually handed down from mother to daughter."
He said, not wanting to give her too much information but yet show her he really did know what she was. He couldn't help but chuckle at her outburst this time.
"I'm not going to kill you miss Petyon... not at all and I never had the intention to either and I'm far away from toying with you. I mean what I say and despite my looks and despite what other demons look like, we're quite sophisticated, I assure you"
He said, tilting his head to the other side.
"I kneel because I know my height might be frightening.... in what way am I looking at you, miss?"
He asked looking into her eyes while asking the question, for now not using his powers at all, He wanted to reach her and it seemed that the best way to do that was to let her calm on her own and not by force.

Sighing at her luck, Peyton sat down on the roof where she was captured. How was it that just thinking about her mother in passing would still bring her a slight pain? She sincerely hoped that Ryuu hadn’t seen her visible wince. She needed to change the subject and fast because it was obvious that this man wasn’t going to let her go.
“How did you jump off of things like that, not to say that the climbing wasn’t just as impressive. It just seems so... unnatural. You have some super power or something? I mean, it’s not often... to be honest, it’s been never that I have talked to a... you’re a demon, right? Or are you some kind of weird vampire? Sorry, I just wanna know,” she rambled.
Shaking her head and shrugging her slender shoulders, Peyton pulled her knees to her chest and put her head on them as she wrapped her arms around her legs.
“You look at me like you’re either going to eat me or I’m some hoppy little bug. Maybe that’s not right either. Maybe it’s that you think I’m something special. I’m not, I assure you,” she said as she spoke into her knees. “I’m a freak, actually.”

So the label "miss" was correct after all then? He had kept calling her miss even though she said not to do that and she had just seemed to accept it so, he guessed she had thrown that out in anger.
"It's called free running. You use your body in any way you can, stretching and bending to reach where you want. Very much like how cats use their body to aim and jump. I learned that art centuries ago."
He said, not minding sharing a bit of himself once she finally asked but he didn't fail to notice that she quickly changed subject from her mother to something else. Perhaps a sensitive subject? Ryuu was thankful for the years he had spent with humans in his younger years, that in it self had taught him how the human mind worked since it was often quite different and more fragile than a demon's mind. He'd play along for now.
"Hai, I am a demon, that's correct. Not all of us are though. We have fearies, trolls, vampires and other supernaturals too. We live very well mannered in the Demon Underground and anyone who misbehaves or break the rules, I deal with."
He said, deciding to sneak a bit of information in as well and perhaps spark her curiosity on how he lived in his world. Ryuu chuckled softly.
"You're hardly a freak miss Petyon. You're a gifted human who is allowed to see what others may not. You're not a bug and I'm not going to eat you... you're not in my diet anyway.."
He mused and when he saw that she relaxed even if a little, he moved his legs to fold them in a yoga pose instead of kneeling. Hands resting on his calves.
"You are however, special. You are the first seer in Oregon in over fifty years that we know of. That's quite remarkable and admirable."
He said somewhat running his right hand over his right eye where the pepper spray still stung pretty badly even though he was masking the pain. He'd had worse of course but the pleasure he had felt at the beginning was numbed and it was only discomfort left.

Lifting her head from her knees, Peyton eyed the demon across from her wearily. Her eyes were beginning to water from all the stress of the moment. There was only so much that one person could take and she was about at her limit.
“I’m not special, Ryuu. I’m just... crazy. Here I am, on a roof, talking to a demon and you think that I’m not a freak? Well, maybe you’re right. Maybe I’m not as much a freak as you and your Demon Underground are.”
Standing up swiftly, she looked down at Ryuu and shook her head, her cheeks now wet with the tears that have flowed over. She opened her mouth to say something and then closed it again. Repeating the motion a few times, she couldn’t seem to find the words that she wanted to speak. So, in frustration she turned her back on him again.
“I don’t want this. I don’t want this at all. I never asked for this and the bitch that gave birth to me, well if she was what you call a Seer as well... I hope someone like you killed her or something. And if she is a Seer, she was in Eugene this whole time. So, I’m not the first Seer in Oregon. Maybe just the first in Portland.”
Sighing deeply, she turned her penetrating eyes on the male once again. “Please let me go home.”

"If you see yourself as a freak, miss Peyton. Others will see you as one as well. If you see yourself as a person with a gift, that is what others will see"
He said shortly, studying her again while remaining still where he sat. Somehow this woman was finding a place in his chest... in.. in his heart? It was a strange feeling really, one he couldn't really set his mind to explain. What she said next surprised him a great deal however.
"T-there was another seer?...in...Eugene?"
He glanced down at the roof top they say on for a moment, blinking and trying to get the information in, this he kind of had to look into, how had they managed to miss that?. How well had she managed to hide and cloak herself if no one knew about her?
"We should have known..."
He mumbled mostly to himself just before he looked up at the platinum blonde young woman again, only to discover her tears. Ryuu blinked and just stared at her for a moment while listening to her story about her mother but he was focused on the tears.
"You're... leaking?"
He mumbled and slowly moved closer to slowly reach for her cheek, wanting to touch the tears on her cheeks while having a surprised and amazed look on his face. It was called 'crying' he suddenly remembered. Humans cried.. that's right. They cried when they were upset. It was such a long time ago he actually had a conversation for real with a human, a conversation that didn't have to do with sex or who picking up who or who argued with another.
The request of wanting to go home made him blink and snap out of his amazement of her tears and he slowly leaned back down to sit on his right leg with his left knee bent up towards his chest, the sole of his boot to the ground.
Demons could cry too, yes but it was extremely rare that a demon showed that he or she even could do so in public if ever at all. That was a sign of weakness for most people. At least among the kind of demon that Ryuu was and he had learned even in his young years living as a human that crying among boys only made things worse even though the boy he had accidentally killed had been crying as well and the other boys had reacted in anger due to it as well as the blood loss of a friend that later died a few minutes later.
"You are free to go, miss Petyon. But please... allow me to at least escort you home safely"
He said, looking into her eyes if she'd let him but without using his powers. His right eye was swollen and red but the redness on the skin by his mouth from the pepper spray had eased up a bit by now though. This woman... who was she? And how could she in such a short time like this; make him react to her so strongly with only words and actions and even without touch?
